When clients find out our menu has options, the first thing they ask is: Which neurotoxin is best?
Well, that depends. We’ll explain the differences between Botox®, Daxxify®, and XEOMIN® so you can decide for yourself!
All three of these injectables temorarily improve the appearance of both milk to seere frown lines between the eyebrows and fine lines around the eyes (crow’s feet). They smooth the skin by blocking nerve impulses and helping muscles relax.
While they’re all designed as solutions to similar skin concers, they do have differences. All three are produced by differenced manufacturs and have unique formulas. This affects their longevity, dosage, application techniques and other factors.
The first, Botox®
With an 80% market share of the injectable industry, it’s not surprising to earn that it was the first anti-wrinkle injectable on the market. It gained FDA certificaton in 2002. In addition to smoothing wrinkles, Botox® can also be used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) in the armpits, hands, and feet.
Botox is formulated using a protein casing. Although its results are incredible, this casing can cause rare immune reactions. Nevertheless, new brands enered the market offering different formulas and benefits.
Longlasting, Daxxify®
Daxxify® is FDA-approved to smooth moerate to severe lines between the brows. It is the only long-lasting frown line treatment powered by a peptide with results that last on average 6 months and up to 9 months for some. *The active ingredient in Daxxify® is a purified protein called botulinum toxin type A.
Is your frown line treatment not lasting as long as you would like? If so, Daxxify® could be the solution for you.
Naked, XEOMIN®.
XEOMIN® was FDA-approved in 2011 and has thus gained popularity as the “naked” choice. Why? It only contains one ingredient: botulinum toxin type A. Without any addities, XEOMIN is the purest injectable available.
Xeomin is a purified form of the neurotoxin; it’s manufactured in such a way that it removes accessory proteins from the active ingredient.
Another perk? Some patients develop a resistance to Botox or Dysport due to certain antibodies so XEOMIN is a reliable alternative. It’s also less likely to spark any allergic reactions. The only downide to XEOMIN is that it can be slower to show results – up to 4-6 days.
